The South Australian government has announced a Royal Commission into Artificial Intelligence, to provide advice and recommendations on the economic and social opportunities and challenges that AI will bring to the state.

The Royal Commission into Artificial Intelligence will commence on 1 October, with a final report to be handed to government no later than 1 July 2027.

A panel of commissioners will be appointed to lead the commission and the Terms of Reference for the inquiry is to be determined.

The commission is expected to hear evidence and receive submissions from a broad cross-section of the South Australian community, including business, industry bodies, unions, technology developers, academics, independent experts and representatives of creative industries.
